BFF- Buffalo Friend Forever

It all began when Thai farmer Surat Paewkate was hired as the caretaker of the buffalo Thong Kham. Soon this arrangement began a life-long friendship. It even became Facebook official as Surat started posting selfies of the two for his friends to enjoy. These photos quickly went viral, and these besties were “internet celebrities” in Thailand.

Soon after, the duo got terrible news. Thong Kham was to be sold to someone else. Unfortunately, Surat did not have the 100,000 Thai Baht necessary to buy him. He posted his troubles to his new fanbase and donations quickly poured in. Surat earned more than he needed to own Thong Kham. A ceremony with local government officials present will transfer ownership and permanently unite the best friends. Surat is doing this in order to provide complete transparency to his fans and donors. He is now taking suggestions on what should be done with the rest of the money.

Surat genuinely shows his gratitude for Thong Kham;
"I have to thank everyone for this. I will keep Thong Kham happy all his life and post photos regularly. I welcome everyone who wants to visit Thong Kham," he said. "I used to dream about having a paddy field, a house and a buffalo I can ride when I go to work in the fields. With Thong Kham, my last dream has come true."
